Marbella BeachesMarbella Beaches run along its 27 km coastline. They are
divided into 24, so there are plenty to choose from. In general the beaches
are of good quality, many having the blue flag. They are packed in the
summer so be prepared to arrive early to get a good spot. |

The main beach in the centre of Marbella is Playa Puerto Banus, which is 1 km long and 50 m wide with fine golden sand. It has won the blue flag since in 1992 and has many facilities and services, including various water sports. Playa de la Bajadilla and Playa de la Fontanilla are located near the old fishing port. They are very popular during the summer with locals and tourists alike, filled with parasols and sun loungers and people enjoying a cool drink in one of the numerous bars. Playa de Linda Vista is a very pretty beach, one in which you can enjoy the clear waters while participating in one of the many water sports available or take a stroll and admire the ruins of Basilica Vega del Mar at the north end of the beach. Although a bit further out of town, Playa de Calahonda, between Marbella and Mijas, is one of the most attractive beaches in the area. It is 1000 sq metres of white sand, with clear clean water and facilties such as showers, a bar and lifeguard service. For more information contact the local tourist information office |
